Sword of Khaine
For Christmas this year, my niece requested the Sword of Khaine from Total Warhammer.
Hollow Knight: Silksong
My nephew is eagerly awaiting the release of Hollow Knight: Silksong, so he wanted to be this character that he saw in the trailer, even though we don’t know their name or anything about them.
Paracesis
This is the Paracesis from Warframe, requested by my niece in the specific colors that she uses on it in the game.
Pure Nail
This Christmas, my nephew wanted the Pure Nail from Hollow Knight, to go with the Sharpened Nail that he already had as part of his Halloween costume.
Hollow Knight Halloween
For Halloween, my nephew wanted to be the Knight from the video game Hollow Knight. Then it turned into a family affair, with my niece as the Pure Vessel, my sister as the White Lady, and my brother-in-law as the Pale King.
Yiga Blademaster Halloween costume
This Halloween, I made my nephew a Yiga Blademaster costume from Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. It’s made from two body suits sewn together, with accents of faux leather, craft foam, and feathers. The windcleaver sword is made of poplar.
Castleton Door Hanger
This is a joke that will be very difficult to explain to anyone who is not a member of our family. Suffice it to say that, inspired by an episode of Mystery Science Theater 3000, we decided to name our house Castleton.
Dawnbreaker
For Christmas, my niece requested Dawnbreaker, which is a sword from Skyrim. The orcs in our neighborhood don’t stand a chance.
Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Thunderspears
My niece and nephew are obsessed with Legends of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, so for Christmas I made the real-life versions of one of their favorite weapons from the game – the Thunderspear.
Monster Book of Monsters
My nephew loves Harry Potter and he loves animals, so I thought he would like a Monster Book of Monsters for Christmas. I made it in the form of a box so he could use it to keep his special treasures.
Snitch
My niece loves imagining that she’s a master Quidditch player and inventor of superior racing brooms, so I decided to make her a snitch for Christmas, which is also a secret treasure box. Of course, it had to be oversized, because otherwise she couldn’t keep anything in it larger than the Resurrection Stone.
Cars Pit Crew Cake
My little friend Isaac really likes the pit crews from Cars. Fortunately, if there is one thing I’m good at, it’s making anthropomorphic vehicles out of gum paste.
Hobby Eagle
As soon as my niece Alex learned how to walk I decided that she was ready to fly. So for her first birthday I made her a hobby eagle. (It's like a hobby horse, but much more cumbersome.) Being the giant Tolkien nerd that I am, I called it Gwaihir the Windlord.
